Meditation for World Peace

Special Teaching on Mother’s Day

Sunday May 10 • 11-12:15pm

On this special day, join us for our Meditation for World Peace class to contemplate Buddha’s teachings on loving kindness towards all living beings.

Inspired by teachings from Eight Steps to Happiness, you will leave with a thought to contemplate and apply in your daily life.

Open to everyone. Includes a guided meditation, a teaching and prayers dedicated for world peace.

Free drop-in class.

You are then welcome to join us for an abundant brunch. See cost & registration tab above for details. PRE-REGISTRATION for adults, children and young children is required for the brunch. Pre-registration deadline is May 8th.

Gen-la Kelsang Khyenrab is the Resident Teacher at Kadampa Meditation Centre Canada & the Canadian National Spiritual Director.

Do I have to be a Buddhist to benefit from meditation?

No. Anyone can learn basic meditation and experience the benefits that come from having a peaceful mind.

Buddhists respect all people and are happy to help anyone regardless of whether they subscribe to another faith, or to none.

Do I need to have experience in meditation or Buddhism to attend the classes?

No. All you need is the wish to improve yourself and the quality of your life.

What do I need to bring to class?

Nothing in particular, however if you wish to take notes bring a pen and notepad.

How should I dress for class?

No particular clothing is required.

While their parents attend the ‘Meditation for World Peace’ class, kids can attend a special class just for them.

The purpose of these classes is not to convert children to Buddhism but to guide on a journey of self-discovery and self-improvement to help them realize their full potential.

Through exploring topics such as love, compassion, patience and cherishing others, children will learn the skills to become happy individuals.

Each class includes a simple meditation, a short teaching, story time and a craft project.

Suggested age: 4-10 years.

The Kids’ program is taught by students from the various study programs offered at KMCC.

Children must be accompanied by an adult onsite. Adults are welcome to attend the Prayers For World Peace class held at the same time.

We are a non-profit organization, all profits go towards supporting the International Temples Project for World Peace.

Meditation for Tweens

Once a month • 11am-12:15pm

Please refer to the class calendar to confirm dates.

Young people aged 10-14 years old will be introduced to meditation practices to reduce anxiety and stress and to develop a peaceful, happy mind.

Includes guided meditations, a talk and discussions of various topics.

This class takes place at the same time as the Kids Program & Meditation for World Peace.

Taz2

Taz Tagore is the co-founder of the Reciprocity Foundation, an award-winning non-profit serving homeless and foster care youth. She is also a leadership coach, author of many articles and books and a graduate of Harvard Business School. She began working with homeless youth in her teens and has served homeless persons in the U.S., Canada and India with great enthusiasm for most of her life. Every year, she leads retreats for homeless youth in upstate New York at the Reciprocity Foundation. Taz has been studying Kadampa Buddhism for 5 years in the Foundation and Teacher Training Programs in Toronto and New York. She conveys her love of Buddha’s teachings and meditation in a manner which touch the heart of the students so they can make practical changes to improve their life. Taz is teaching the Meditation for Tweens class once a month at KMCC.
