Every year, the New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union (NKT-IKBU) organizes a world wide program of special courses on Buddhism and meditation that explain how to apply Buddha’s teachings (Dharma) to modern living. The program includes International Festivals, National Festivals and Regional Dharma Celebrations.
These Festivals and Dharma Celebrations provide a precious opportunity to study and practise the special presentation of modern Buddhism taught by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, the Founder of the New Kadampa Tradition.
The events vary in length from two days to two weeks, but whatever their duration, they all offer a vacation with a difference – a chance to break free from the hectic routines of daily life and focus on the things that really matter. You will come away not only refreshed and relaxed but also spiritually re-energized.

The annual Ontario Dharma Celebration (ODC) is a wonderful opportunity for people all across Ontario to come together to receive practical spiritual advice. It is held in the National Kadampa Temple in Toronto, which arose from the compassionate intention of Venerable Geshe Keslsang Gyatso, the founder of the New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union (NKT-IKBU). All profits from the event go to the International Temples Project (ITP) fund, dedicated to public benefit.
This year, we will establish a deep connection with Dorje Shugden, the Dharma protector of the Ganden Oral lineage. Gen Donsang will be granting the empowerment and will emphasize how, through relying on Dorje Shugden, we will get the real power to transform any adversity coming our way.
‘If we continually rely upon Dorje Shugden with faith, he will care for us like a mother cares for her child. He will guide us to the correct path, or liberating path, pacify our obstacles, gather necessary conditions for us and bestow upon us powerful blessings.’ Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, 2006.
Gen Donsang is the Principal Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Centre Montreal. He presents Buddha’s advice with humour and sincerity, and through his clear and accessible teachings, is able to assist students in their spiritual practice in accordance with the modern world.
The next Canadian Festival will be held at KMCC, June 5-9, 2015.
