Every year, the New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union (NKT-IKBU) organizes a world wide program of special courses on Buddhism and meditation that explain how to apply Buddha’s teachings (Dharma) to modern living. The program includes International Festivals, National Festivals and Regional Dharma Celebrations.
These Festivals and Dharma Celebrations provide a precious opportunity to study and practise the special presentation of modern Buddhism taught by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, the Founder of the New Kadampa Tradition.
The events vary in length from two days to two weeks, but whatever their duration, they all offer a vacation with a difference – a chance to break free from the hectic routines of daily life and focus on the things that really matter. You will come away not only refreshed and relaxed but also spiritually re-energized.
Following The Liberating Path
January 23-25, 2015
The annual Ontario Dharma Celebration (ODC) is a wonderful opportunity for people all across Ontario to come together to receive practical spiritual advice. It is held in the National Kadampa Temple in Toronto, which arose from the compassionate intention of Venerable Geshe Keslsang Gyatso, the founder of the New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union (NKT-IKBU). All profits from the event go to the International Temples Project (ITP) fund, dedicated to public benefit.
Early in 2015, we will establish a deep connection with Buddha Shakyamuni, the founder of Buddhism in this world. By learning how to rely on him as our supreme unchanging friend, we can awaken our own compassion and wisdom. Gen-la Dekyong will give a commentary to the Liberating Prayer. This prayer, composed by Venerable Geshe-la for this modern time, is particularly accessible to everyone and engaged in daily by the people in Kadampa Buddhist centres around the world.
Gen-la Kelsang Dekyong is the General Spiritual Director of the New Kadampa Tradition & acting National Spiritual Director of Canada. She has been studying under Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso for over thirty years. Gen-la has dedicated her life to helping others by promoting modern Buddhism throughout the world. She is well loved by thousands of students for her ability to touch their hearts by showing how Buddha’s teachings are relevant to their lives today.
Registration Opens Dec 1. Please visit the official Celebrations website by clicking here.
The next Canadian Festival will be held at KMCC, May 1-5, 2015. Gen-la Kunsang will be granting the empowerment of Buddha Maitreya and give teachings on the Boddhisattva Way of Life.
